Where story, intention, and everyday life meet.

Hi, I’m Annisa — founder of Mindful Design Hawaiʻi.

Like many first-generation Americans, I grew up navigating two worlds.

Inside our home, my family stayed closely connected to their heritage — layering the space with traditional textiles, handmade pieces, and the familiar sounds and smells of home-cooked meals and music.

Outside, I was growing up in a culture that wasn’t theirs, finding my own voice and learning how to belong.

That early experience — balancing heritage, identity, and the need for grounding — shaped how I see space today: as something deeply personal, layered with meaning, and capable of supporting the many facets of who we are.

My bedroom became the bridge between those worlds — the one place I could shape freely. Filling it with color, rearranging furniture, and hanging art brought a sense of calm and clarity that stayed with me.

Rooted in Place and Real Life

For nearly two decades, Oʻahu has been home.

Here on the windward side, beneath the Koʻolau Mountains, I live with my husband, our young son, and our dog. Our days are full of creative chaos, laughter, and chasing after little feet — a daily reminder that real homes are meant to be lived in, not just looked at.

It’s this lived-in, layered perspective that I bring to every home I help reimagine.

Blending Creativity and Clarity

Before launching Mindful Design Hawaiʻi, I spent several years teaching yoga — a practice that shaped how I think about space as something not just physical, but emotional and energetic.

While yoga taught me how to tune into energy and flow, my years in commercial property management grounded me in structure, logistics, and the realities of managing moving parts.

That blend — creative intuition and practical experience — shapes the way I work today: with empathy, focus, and an eye toward both beauty and function.

Your Home, Reimagined

I believe good design isn’t about perfection — it’s about alignment.

It’s about creating spaces that reflect your story, support your everyday life, and offer a sense of calm and connection.

I know how easy it is for a home to become layered with clutter, distraction, or disconnection. That’s why my approach is rooted in mindfulness: Together, we’ll work with what’s meaningful, introduce only what’s needed, and make choices that reflect how you truly want to live.

My own home is filled with pieces that tell a story — collected art, handwoven rugs, toy t, vintage finds, and a coffee cup that’s rarely warm. It’s imperfect, but it’s intentional. And that’s the feeling I love helping others create.
